Quietly taking over the quality trout waters the world over
CF Burkheimer trout rods have been quielty taking over the quality trout waters the world over. Find an angler that quietly goes about his business, casts a beautiful line with accuracy and precision and has a grin on his face that stretches ear to ear, more than likely you'll find a Burkie in his hand.
Need'n to throw a #12 Green Drake or #16-18 Elk Hair in the riffle? That's our 590-4. Out head hunting on the Henry's Fork Ranch section? Present your trout offerings confidently with our 489-4 DAL nicknamed "The Ranch Rod". Picky Bow's selectively feeding on Midges, Micro Caddis, PMD's in a Spring Creek or glass smooth back eddy? Look to the 389-4. There are a host of fishy challenges and situations out there, and we've got a rod for them all.
Our trout rods are light in the hand, and heavy in performance. If they don't cast 15-20 feet with good feel and turnover, then rifle out and honest 70'+ they're not a Burkheimer. We build rods that you'll love to fish with, because that's our passion and commitment to you and to the sport we are devoted to and love so much.
Our trout rods contain the most current State-of-the-Art technology. We refrain from using buzz-word marketing lingo to describe tapers or models. That's not the Burkheimer way. Instead, we prefer to focus on designing and crafting exceptional fly rods -- fly rods with that "Burkie feel" and performance.
Burkheimer trout rods are available in three distinct build styles; the only difference is hardware and cosmetics. Whether you choose a Vintage, Presentation, or Classic, they all feature the same solid Burkheimer design and action. It starts with the blanks we design and roll in house. We build from there.

The Carbon XL series looks and feels like a rod that should be selling for twice its price!
Carbon XL Euro Nymphtop
Medium action euro nymph rods for all skill levels.
With the growing demand for specialized Euro Nymph rods, the demand for a rod that fits the needs of anglers that are not looking to compete at the national championships has also been growing. We used our extremely popular Carbon XL rod as a tried-and-true foundation to make a rod that met and exceeded the expectations of these anglers. Competition-style Euro Nymph rods can be so specialized that they aren’t always the right tool for most recreational anglers. By using the Carbon XL’s already versatile design and extending the length to 10′, we produced a rod that is not only capable of anything a trout angler needs, but excels at it. Perfect for any style of nymphing, dry flies, lake fishing, and more! We took an already great rod, gave it a new tip section as well as a few other upgrades, and made one of our most versatile fishing tools to date.
The ultimate fishing tool for little guys and gals.

Action and power for casting heavy nymph rigs.
Maximum Line Control
A drift is only as good as your control over it. With its 9'6"-10' length and responsive action, the ECHO Indicator is designed for maximum line control to set up those long, drag-free drifts.
Action and power for casting heavy nymph rigs
There's a lot more to cast with nymph rigs vs conventional dry and wet fly fishing. The Indicator rod is designed to load in to its powerful lower sections to give added power when needed. Whether roll-casting or casting overhead, there is ample power and recovery to get those heavy rods to their target.
Essential Sizes and Lengths
There are three sizes including a 9'6" 6wt, 10' 6wt and 10' 7wt. The rods feature semi gloss brown finish. Every rod is 4 piece and comes with a hard case and rod sock.
The Guide favorite. An all around work horse.
With the Ion XL’s extreme versatility between fresh and saltwater environments, its affordable price point, and quality componentry, it has become the go-to rod for guides and fishing professionals.
Within the series are soem wonderful saltwater rods. Saltwater-grade rods in this price category are usually better utilized as a coat hanger than a fishing tool. The Ion XL series does not fit that mold.
The series features a remarkably low swing-weight and a more forgiving action, the Ion XL is equally at home stripping flesh flies as it is dropping a merkin to a tailing permit.
And now with a 10' #5 perfect for BC stillwater fishing.
A Rod for Lake Enthusiasts
A Rod for Lake Enthusiasts
Conventional fly rods are a poor substitute for a precisely developed lake rod. These new rods were designed to get anglers fishing more effectively and efficiently in lakes of all sizes.
Optimized for Casting While Sitting
Lake fishermen are typically fishing from float tubes, small pontoons, or boats. This creates challenges when making long casts. The unique action and power blend matched to the 10' length helps avoid hitting the water behind you on the back cast and the dreaded tailing loop.
The Lago series rods also live a double life as excellent summer steelhead or large trout nymphing rods.
Essential Sizes and Lengths
There are three sizes including a 10ft 5wt, 10ft 6wt, and 10ft 7wt. The 10 footers cover the gamut of fish sizes while also masterfully handling any stillwater line on the market. The rods feature semi gloss cobalt blue finish. Every rod is 4 piece and comes with a hard case and rod sock.
Fish effectively without breaking the bank
Fish effectively without breaking the bank
When people struggle learning to fly fish, they change their line, their fly, or their underwear… when maybe the rod was the problem the whole time.
Versatile Action, Durable Construction
The LIFT is built on the shoulders of our extremely popular ECHO Base series with updated actions to suit a wider range of casting styles.
Years of fly fishing enjoyment
Few rods out there offer the bang-for-buck value of the ECHO LIFT. And we specifically designed it to continue to impress you whether you’re still learning or many years in to your fly fishing career.
Our medium-fast action float rod is forgiving enough to chuck heavy duty PNW-style float rigs a country mile while maintaining the backbone to hook up from a hundred yards away. The 13 foot length is perfect for long-distance mends and provides great balance for all-day fishing sessions. Or as we like to call them, “Mondays”.

A Euro Nymph rod for critical line feel & control
A Euro Nymph rod for critical line feel & control
Euro Nymphing requires precision and sensitivity to hit the target and feel not only fish biting, but also current seams, the bottom, and anything else that will dictate where to present your fly.
Light, Fast and Versatile
Strike detection is the make-or-break metric for any Euro Nymphing rod. The Shadow II's light weight and fast action tip allow you to feel the subtleties of not just strikes, but bottom contour, current speeds, and other critical variances that can effect your success.
For casual anglers and competition anglers alike
The Shadow II lives in that "Goldilocks zone" between our other Euro nymphing rods. Blending enough sensitivity and overall performance with affordability to make it one of the most popular rods in our entire lineup.
For Elite Competition-Level Anglers
For Elite Competition-Level Anglers
We worked with veteran Euro Nymph guru Pete Erickson, 2018 fly fishing world champion Norm Maktima, and expert Mariusz Wrobewski to create a rod that is dialed-in to perform at the sport's highest levels.
20% Lighter than the Shadow II Series
By using the most advanced high modulus graphite available to us, we were able to achieve the lightest rod we have ever produced. When you need to feel every nuance happening under the water, having the lightest, most sensitive rod you possibly can is the difference between 1st and 10th place.
Our Most Advanced Rods to Date
Simply put: This is the most challenging project we have ever completed in our life as a rod company. Neither us nor our experts in the field would be satisfied without a rod that balanced a level of sensitivity not before thought possible while keeping its abililty to achieve effective hook sets.
Competition-level lake rods for the serious stillwater angler.
Conventional fly rods are a poor substitute for a precisely developed stillwater rod. These new rods were designed to get anglers fishing more effectively and efficiently in lakes of all sizes. We worked with expert Pete Erickson to fine-tune this unique rod series with its medium fast action and subtle delicacy to cover all aspects of high-level stillwater fishing. There are four sizes including a 10ft 5wt, 10ft 6wt, 10ft 7wt, and even a 10.6ft 6wt. The 10 footers cover the gamut of fish sizes while also masterfully handling any stillwater line on the market. The rods feature low vis grey matte finish and black single foot guides. A custom designed cork handle provides versatility and comfort. The reel seat has a removable fighting butt and comes with weightrings. Each rod comes with a custom fiberglass rod tube.
8 Piece Travel Rod
8pc Travel Rods
When traveling, whether it's business or pleasure, taking a standard 4 piece rod can often not be an option. Each TRIP rod breaks down to 8 15" pieces and fits in to it's 18" long case.
Smooth blend of action and power
We planned for these rods to be used all over the world in every variety of fishery. So we incorporated the most versatile blend of action and power to help cover the widest range of fishing situations.
A rod for the suitcase, backpack, or back seat
Whether you're on a "business" trip, backpacking, or just want something that rides along with you for those spontaneous stops, the TRIP's ultra-compact 8pc design makes it a no brainer to take along.
Unlike our other series of rods, each size Echo Trout model has a unique action suited to that rod's typical application
Few fish are more diverse
There are few fish with a more diverse menu of preferred foods or living environments than trout. Sometimes, they require lightly presenting speck-sized midges to get a grab. At other times, you may find yourself tossing heavily weighted leeches on sinking lines. Designing a series optimized for every trout situation just isn't going to happen. We can, however, make a rod well-suited to cast flies and lines of various sizes and densities in that "sweet spot" distance of 30-50 feet.
Size-Specific Tip Sections
To protect light tippets, we produced a fast action design with an ultra-sensitive tip section in the lighter weights. To help carry heavier sinking lines and meatier flies, the 6wt's tip section has been strengthened to carry the load and lift more line when needed. Unlike our other series of rods, each size ECHO Trout model has a unique action suited to that rod's typical application. All models are light in the hand to minimize fatigue and increase casting efficiency.
Custom Handle and More Unique Features
The unique handle shape allows the angler to use the thumb on top grip, the finger on top, or extended finger grip. We chose an anodized aluminum reel seat to lessen the effort needed to maintain your gear and threw in a blue colored sliding hood that matches the thread wraps. They feature a semigloss finish to decrease "line stick" and are all four piece to make it easier to travel. Each includes a fabric-covered hard case. To cover every trout fishing situation, the rods come in a 7'10" #4, 9' #4, 9' #5, 9' #6, and 9'6" #6. For the 9'6" 6wt, we worked with top guides to dial-in the ideal length, power and action to optimize it for fishing with a nymph & indicator.
High Performance, Modern Fly Rods
The next generation of AETOS™ fly rods includes an extensive range of high performance, modern fly rods, including single handed, double handed, and switch models. The new AETOS series features redesigned blanks constructed of proprietary nano blank technology, making the rods lighter and stronger than standard carbon fiber.
The most technologically advanced fly rod in the world.
The Asquith series is the culmination of global cooperation in design, materials, and manufacturing techniques. Built on Shimano's proprietary Spiral X platform, the Asquith boasts superb power transfer from tip to hand, quick recovery, and increased sensitivity. Designed by world casting champion Steve Rajeff, the Asquith is an exploratory step into the future of rod manufacturing technology. With fast actions, generous power levels, titanium guides, and exceptionally light swing weight, all rods in the series excel in fishing situations where developing high line speed and making precise casts means success.
The most dynamic and popular saltwater fly rod
When saltwater fly fishing, bait, cover, current and tides are always pertinent factors to a successful trip. Crosscurrents that create rips, seam and turbulence are the desired environment for saltwater anglers. This is where baitfish naturally find refuge and where game fish come to feast. G Loomis understands where the big snook hides and waits for unsuspecting prey and that is what the CrossCurrent Series is all about.
The CrossCurrent Series, the most dynamic and popular saltwater rod, was inspired by hours of research on the water and in the factory. It features incredible lifting power and fast tapers that allow tight, aerodynamic loops so you can achieve long cast after long cast, even in the strongest of saltwater breezes. Not only is this light-weight, powerful rod a delight to fish with, the appointments added to these rods make a beautiful addition to its appearance.
All 7 of the rods in the CrossCurrent GLX family are 4-piece travel rods, featuring Recoil (nickel-titanium) guides and anodized aluminum reel seats. The "yin-yang" cutouts on the reel seats expose a graphite insert with the iconic G Loomis Skeleton Fish Logo. Each rod comes in a soft, protective rod sock and travel case.
A game-changing addition to the serious angler's quiver.
Built to the unrelenting specifications of professional fishing guides, the IMX-PRO series is comprised of 6 purpose-driven designs to meet the performance demands of modern freshwater fishing. Striking the ultimate balance of handsome components, positive feel, and unflinching durability, IMX-PRO is a game-changing addition to the serious angler's quiver.
Downright deadly, modern euro nymphing is a beyond-proven tactic for boosting catch count
Lift. Lob. Repeat. Downright deadly, modern euro nymphing is a beyond-proven tactic for boosting catch count. For many anglers – especially those in high-traffic fisheries with pressured fish – it’s one of the best ways to achieve maximum effectiveness efficiently. True disciples of this method require specialized tools with innovative actions and components configured to satisfy a set of unique tactical demands.
With a moderate flex pattern and generous power through the bottom half of the blank, IMX-PROe is designed to load easily for improved casting accuracy without sacrificing the “oomph” behind the hookset. Conduit Core Technology and our GL7 Resin System combine to reduce overall weight, resulting in a lightweight, scary sensitive blank. A custom half wells “Euro Grip,” matte-finished reel seat with counter-weighted fighting butt, precise guide spacing to eliminate line sag, and pointer finger “sensitivity zone” on the blank above the grip round out the feature set for this purpose-driven euro nymphing powerhouse.
Max GLX Czech Nymphtop
G. Loomis Max GLX Czech Nymph Fly Rod is a lightweight fast-action specialty rod designed for the Czech Nymph technique where long, light leaders are used to catch wary, pressure-sensitive trout.
G. Loomis Max GLX Czech Nymph Fly Rod is a lightweight fast-action specialty rod designed for the Czech Nymph technique where long, light leaders are used to catch wary, pressure-sensitive trout. It has a really light, responsive tip, but the lower 3/4ths of the rod is stiff to help you "drag" weighted nymphs through likely feeding areas. GLX really makes a big difference with this technique because it's so light and so sensitive.
A unique fly rod series designed for a special style of tournament stream angling in Europe where speed and line control are paramount to success. These are extremely fast, 10-foot, 4-piece rods with light, sensitive tips to help anglers make short, accurate drifts with weighted nymphs. The technique requires very little in the way of traditional casting. Anglers actually flick weighted nymphs upstream of the target area and then, using the extra rod length, and long, light leaders, guide the flies along the bottom, almost pulling the rig downstream instead of using the standard "dead-drift" technique. The extra-fast taper in these rods provides a quick hook-set, so anglers can react before the fish spits the fly. The 3-weight is for smaller fish and protecting very light tippets. The 4-weight is for slightly heavier tippets and larger fish. The technique is quickly gaining a following in the U.S. as anglers discover new ways to fool pressure-
Power, Line Speed and Loop Stability without compromising Feel
Edgy environmental factors like sustained wind, complex hydraulics, and natural structure all pack the potential to punish productivity. With favor stacked in nature’s corner, level the playing field with fishing tools forged to conquer these, and other common variables. With a primary focus of maximizing versatility, these adaptable actions improve angler capability and expand tactical opportunity in difficult fishing situations. Rolled with our most advanced compound taper construction to date, NRX+ provides the power, line speed, and loop stability expected from modern fast-action rods without compromising “feel” and finesse in the short game. This means, regardless of casting distance or difficulty, NRX+ empowers anglers with confidence-boosting control in less-than-ideal situations.
NRX + LPtop
Dedicated dry fly anglers know the deal. Your job? Flawless presentation. The trout’s job? Avoiding introduction. Picky and particular, feeding trout aren’t often available to receive offerings sent in a straight-line path. Perfect, delicate drifts require slinging unconventional slack yielding casts, and drag inducing micro-currents, obstacles, and other naturally occurring variables can limit tactical opportunity. When success rests on a razor’s edge, take control with balanced fishing tools built to boost effectiveness in ultra-technical scenarios. NRX+ LP is the ultimate tool for accurate and effective dry fly presentation. Tailored for supreme versatility over a wide range of casting techniques, actions are sweet, smooth, and stable, with plenty of “spank” when conditions call for an additional pinch of power.
NRX + Salttop
Despite best-laid plans, conditions in saltwater environments can slide sideways in a split second. Walloping wind and cloud cover pack the potential to hinder the performance of even the most experienced tropical fly angler. When favor’s stacked in nature’s corner, level the playing field with fishing tools forged to conquer these, and other common variables. With a primary focus of maximizing versatility, these adaptable actions improve angler capability and expand tactical opportunity in difficult fishing situations. Rolled with our most advanced compound taper construction to date, NRX+ S provides the power, line speed, and loop stability expected from modern fast-action rods, without compromising “feel” and finesse for short shots when clouds turn the light down. This means, regardless of casting distance or difficulty, NRX+ empowers anglers with confidence-boosting control in less-than-ideal situations.
NRX + Swim Flytop
Specifically designed for casting and fishing large articulated streamers
With enticing baitfish motion, multi-point articulated “swim flies” rapidly became an essential pattern in any serious bass angler’s box. Unfortunately, this massive innovation in streamer design outpaced the hardware used to deliver the goods. Early adopters – like G. Loomis Elite Ambassador/Product Advisor, Mike Schultz - quickly realized repurposed saltwater sticks were not the solution for tucking accurate casts under obstacles or properly animating flies on retrieve. The need was clear: develop a quick-loading action for accurately punching flies into tricky cover that also transmits every twitch, bump, and slide directly to the fly for precise swimming action on the strip. Rolled with our most advanced compound taper construction to date, NRX+ SF provides power, finesse, and sensitivity over the broadest range of casting distances and styles. Built to Schultz’s specifications, these ultra-versatile tools are designed from the ground up to crush variables and maximize angler performance on the water.
Extremely fast, 10-foot, 4-piece rods with light, sensitive tips to help anglers make short, accurate casts for drifting nymphs
Extremely fast, 10-foot, 4-piece rods with light, sensitive tips to help anglers make short, accurate casts for drifting nymphs. There are myriad nymphing techniques, but the main thing is line and fly control. When Czech nymphing, anglers actually lob weighted nymphs upstream of the target area and then, using the extra rod length, and long, light leaders, guide the flies along the bottom, almost pulling the rig downstream. When “dead-drifting” nymphs the extra length and extra fast action helps improve casting accuracy and line mending while giving you quick hooksets and positive fish-fighting control. Drifting nymphs, weighted or unweighted is a deadly technique. There are probably more trout taken with nymphs than any other method. The Czech Nymph technique has quickly gained a following in the U.S. as anglers discover different ways to fool pressure-sensitive trout. No matter how you choose to fish a nymph, these rods will improve your results.
Designed for making short, accurate casts
First developed with the help of Dave Whitlock for targeting warmwater species, saltwater anglers quickly realized ShoreStalker’s versatility chasing snook, redfish, and other shallow-water critters. With actions designed for making short, accurate casts, they load easily and are perfect for any fishing environment where accuracy is often more crucial than distance.

Award Winning Ultralite Series
The award winning Ultralite range of fly rods features SINTRIX NSX construction. This proprietary material is based on our industry changing original SINTRIX technology that has been combined with a second classified material allowing us to build an even lighter and stronger fly rod.
This lighter weight material provides targeted modification of the blank design while further strengthening the blank strength. The net result is a lighter and more responsive rod that allows the angler to "feel" the line load during the casting stroke, giving a greater degree of control than ever before.
The reel seat on the Ultralite is a masterpiece of form and function-moving more of the rod's weigth behind the hand giving unsurpassed in-hand balance. The single start threading resist the reel loosening under heavy use and has a keyed body to further ensure a snug and aligned fit for your reel.
LL - Light Line and European Nymphing Style Rods
Never before have light line and river specific anglers had so many advanced techniques to choose from. The surge in popularity around advanced European style and competition style techniques has to some degree left rod design behind - not anymore. These technique specific rods have been designed, developed, and tested by some of the leading experts of modern light line methods to represent the most refined and usable actions on the market for these demanding styles of fishing.
SR - Small River
We are pleased to announce the addition of these small river rods to the award winning Ultralite range of Hardy rods. The Hardy Sintrix NSX material is the perfect mix for a crisp rod that protects light tippets and gives you a forgiving, easy loading action for the accuracy and control you need in a small river or stream. The new range includes 6-piece packing rods for some great distancing off the trail.

Significantly Faster than the standard Ultralite Series
There are adverse conditions that place a different set of demands on our equipment - extreme weather, extreme distance, or even extreme flies. The Ultralite X is the answer to those demands and is significantly faster than our standard Ultralite. The high recovery rates drive tight loops with even the largest flies. The more powerful butt section is built for lifting deep sunk lines, pressuring large fish away from snags, and handling density compensated fly lines with aggressive tapers.
Based on the blank design of the award-winning Proaxis series of Rods
Based on the blank design of the award-winning Proaxis series of Rods, the all-new Zane series brings performance, durability, and refinement in a range of lengths and line sizes to suit all saltwater and predator anglers, including two all new 8ft 8# and 9# weights ideal for back country Snook, predator fishing, or even streamer-eating trout in smaller rivers.
High Performance Saltwater Fly Rod
The Zane Pro rod continues Hardy's premier position with high performance salt water fly rods. Using the finest high modulus carbon fibers and the best Sintrix 440 resin system, the rod diameters have been reduced for less resistance in the wind and for greater accuracy. The guides are the latest generation of ceramic lined recoil titanium stripper guides and snakes. The bar stock aluminum reel seat has been hardened to the highest-grade anodization to ensure it is scratch resistant. The Zane Pro is proving itself to be the most durable, precise, and successful rod with wins for Tarpon and Permit anglers in this year's game fish tournaments in the Keys.
Our groundbreaking 7X series of rods haven’t just changed the fly fishing game – they’ve reinvented what is possible.
After many years of constantly challenging ourselves as a company to extend the boundaries of modern fly rod design, we take great pride in creating what we truly believe to be highest performance fly rod range we have ever made – the LOOP 7X
Our 7X rod series introduces the innovative design and performance advantages of an exclusive and pioneering heptagonal (7-sided) blank construction process. This patented technology optimises power transfer and enhances rod tracking for both accuracy and maximum energy efficiency.
The 7X’s superior casting performance is due to the geometric advantages inherent within its shape, resulting in accelerated and rapid dampening of the rod during the energy transitions of a casting cycle.
The 7X design, with its 2-3-2 structural support, eliminates “spine effect” and broadens the versatility beyond the conventional overhand cast and underhand casting techniques. The rod also provides equal precision and power in a multitude of casting actions, including the sidearm or backhand casting, which are often required in many demanding sport fisheries.
Finally, the 7X is both lighter and stronger than all circular fly rod constructions, and the ultra efficient energy transmission results in the enhancement of:
This truly is the most technologically advanced, high performance fly rod in the world.
Pinpoint Accuracy. Maximum Distance.

When the wind picks up and casting situations get technical, the IGNITER is the rod to reach for. Whether you’re on your favorite spring creek presenting tiny tricos to tricky trout with the 490-4, or punching streamers into a headwind probing for a lake dwelling lunker with the 7100-4, the powerful blank of the IGNITER will make sure your fly is delivered to the intended target appropriately.
The most demanding conditions require a different kind of tool. Strong head wind? Fish at distance? Bulky rigs? Heavy sink-tips? The IGNITER is tuned to handle the most technical of conditions. Not a rod for the everyday angler, the IGNITER is equipped with a high line speed taper to carry large amounts of line at distance with wind cutting performance. Perfect for streamer fishing with heavy sink tips or covering big water when conditions turn south. If you bring the will, the IGNITER will supply the way.
SALTWATER SPECIFIC / FAST ACTION
A rock-solid go-to saltwater rod. Built with a powerful blank for quick shots and pulling on hard fighting ocean-dwelling gamefish, the MAVERICK gets it done. From highly finicky Bonefish in glassy conditions with the 690-4, Striped Bass on the beaches with the 990-4, strings of migratory Tarpon with the 1190-4, or even blue-water Tuna with the 1486-4, the MAVERICK series carries the right rod for any salty pursuit.
Saltwater angling is more often a game of quick shots than long casts. Dropping a fly in front of a cruising tarpon 20ft off the bow can be the difference between success and failure during a day on the flats. In fact, most saltwater fisheries put a premium on getting the fly to the target quickly. Redfish meandering about Louisiana marshes, bonefish cruising marl-covered flats, and stripers slashing at bait all require a quick cast into “the zone” for high odds at a hookup. The quicker you can lay the fly down, the better the results. Sage’s new MAVERICK has been designed to maximize these quick-shot opportunities with a powerful tip section that drives the casting load down to more robust lower sections, making it easier to fire these quick efficient casts and helping the angler make the most of their finite opportunities. With a true saltwater specific backbone and design, the MAVERICK is ready for any salty challenge thrown its way.

Saltwater Specific / Fast Action
MORE FIGHT, MORE TOUCH
Most salt rods are built for pure power and ultimate strength - that is table stakes for the venue and the discipline. With our new R8 graphite, adding 25% more strength-per-weight was the easy part - a simple function of material advancement - but one that also increased the fight in the rod even down to our six-weight. We increased the pure pulling power without the need to add more material, fillers or reinforcement. The outcome is simple, providing the ability for faster landing times and reducing fish stress and catch-and-release pressure on ever so delicate ecosystems.
More strength and fight were an obvious upgrade, yet few salt rods, especially in the heavier weights, achieve the importance of feel for fine touch shots and precise presentations. Shaping a taper that brought this increased touch into the equation took more time. Yet after a long residence in the birthplace of saltwater fly fishing, and working directly with the experienced guides there, our rod designers found the right profile and fiber alignment that delivered strength, fine touch presentations, and a more intuitive sweet spot to a class of rods that have long had a reputation as unwieldy, unforgiving and difficult. With the SALT R8, gone are the days of sacrificing the feel and touch in your saltwater rod.
EUROPEAN NYMPHING / MEDIUM ACTION
Ranging in models from the traditional 3100-4, the versatile 3106-4, to the big rig 4100-4, the SENSE offers specialized treatment for dialed execution. Single foot guides allow for a lighter more sensitive package, while optimally positioned stripper guide keeps line tighter to the hand and blank, preventing unnecessary snagging and increased control. Performance personified for the technical game of tight line fly fishing.
The SENSE is designed specifically for the European Style Nymphing angler, with a rod that combines Euro Nymphing specific action, optimized components, and stealthy cosmetics to make the perfect tool for those looking to get the most out of their tight line techniques. Equipped with Generation 5 Technology blank, the action of the SENSE starts with a soft tip for increased effectiveness in working precise nymph rigs and protecting fine tippets, giving greater control of these lighter fishing elements than standard fast action / multi-application rods. Once engaged, the tip absorbs shock and prevents “bounce” that might otherwise break off such fine tippets. Moving down the blank, the soft tip gives way to a stout butt section allowing anglers to fight and control fish with quick hooksets and minimal recoil, keeping the line tight throughout the entire fight, with plenty of backbone to muscle the mightiest of trout to the net.
Delightfully crisp and lightweight, from dry fly, streamers, to nymphing
Whether laying down dry flies with finesse or delivering streamers to distant reaches, the SONIC family of rods provides uncompromised versatility, with a balance of power and feel. Delightfully crisp and lightweight, the SONIC has a level of performance that stands out from the crowd with a fast action taper designed to cover a wide range of fishing applications from dry fly, streamers, to nymphing - floating lines to sinking. Built on Konnetic Technology blanks, casts with the SONIC are as intuitive as they are natural - responsive in hand with excellent tracking qualities. Ready for any application the day has in store. Dressed in a Juniper shaft color with Hardwood insert (anodized aluminum matte slate on fighting-butt models), and charcoal thread wraps that blend into the blank accents, the SONIC sports a timeless and elegant look that fits into most any fly fishing environment. Handcrafted in the USA and packaged in a premium rod bag and tube, we’ve pulled out all the stops to create a family of rods ideal for any application - any angler. Cast With Confidence.

High Performance, Pure Fun
Our earliest rods grew from fiberglass roots. In fact, when Scott Fly Rods started in the early 70’s, graphite fly rods didn’t even exist.
We put our name on the map in those early years creating high performance, multi piece glass fly rods for anglers venturing into the mountains to catch wild trout in cool crystalline waters. Anglers were blown away by the smooth performance of our industry-first 5 piece fly rod, and by our full range of multi piece light line glass rods.
We’ve been making fiberglass fly rods ever since. There’s a good reason we continue to design and handcraft glass fly rods-it’s because we think glass is the best material available for casting at very close range, for enjoying the feel of small fish, and having a good old time.
With the all new F Series, we brought together new slimmer tapers with E-glass and our redesigned hollow internal ferrule to set a new standard for smooth, deep flexing rods. And, even though you can cast them a lot farther, these rods are optimized to cast beautiful accurate loops under 20 feet.
By carefully controlling the distribution of mass and stiffness, we created very light fiberglass rods that are stable and form sweet loops with just a few feet of line out of the tip. That way you can accurately cast into the next plunge pool or along overgrown banks even on creeks you can step across. That’s not something your graphite rods can do easily.
We paired that performance with best in class components like Snake Brand Universal snake guides, Flor grade cork grips, titanium SiC strippers, and CNC milled reel seats, and then added our little touches like measuring wraps and alignment dots. We didn’t miss a detail. After all, there’s a lot of history and pride in F Series rods.
So, if you’re in to fishing small pristine waters, and jewel like wild fish, treat yourself to the ultimate fishing tools-F Series rods from Scott-High performance, handcrafted, and pure fun.
The Scott Flex is a mid-priced rod with good action, power, lightness, feel, accuracy, and casting range.
Introducing the all new Scott Flex series, rods so light, effortless, and forgiving, they let you focus on fishing better.
Flex rods generate line speed and tight loops effortlessly, helping you cast accurately and control your presentations. And, their powerful butt sections help with quick, positive hook sets and fish control.
Incorporating many of the innovations found in our award winning Radian and Meridian rods, Flex rods combine high performance with top quality components. And, each Flex rod is handcrafted, start to finish, in our shop in Montrose, Colorado.
Fish better….fish the rod that works hard for you.
Not Just A Reintroduction - A Reinvention
Scott G Series are iconic fly rods. They’re medium action, smooth flexing fly rods treasured by anglers the world over.
Scott introduced the first G rods in 1976, and changed fly fishing by creating the first 9’ 4 weight fly rod. We also introduced the world to the hollow internal ferrule-the most sophisticated way to connect multi-piece fly rods in a smooth and seamless fashion.
In 2006, we introduced the G2 series and modernized medium-action fly rods by making them lighter in hand and increasing their recovery speed.
Now, we bring you the all new G Series. These rods advance medium action fly rods with two innovations. We’ve reinvented the hollow internal ferrule to make it more flexible, stronger, and more than 20% lighter. We’ve also combined our cutting edge fiber and resin systems in the most advanced multi-modulus layups we’ve ever created. New multi-slope tapers were designed to take full advantage of the new materials layups.
The results are rods that help solve one of the toughest challenges in medium action fly rod design-how to create a rod that both bends deeply and remains stable. New G Series rods balance lighter in hand, have much more stability through the middle of the rod for better tracking, and generate higher line speeds. They do all this while retaining the classic flex of your favorite medium action rods.
We’re bringing together presentation and power, so now you can pull hard on 7X tippet AND fish in the wind. The all new G Series. Like no other.
Split Cane Bamboo
Continuing our long tradition of partnering with the world’s top split cane rod makers, Scott is pleased to introduce the new three piece SC rods designed and built in collaboration with Naoki Hashimoto of Hokkaido, Japan.
Scott SC bamboo rods seamlessly integrate the traditions of craftsmanship with the performance innovations of contemporary split cane technology to bring you fly rods that stand the test of time as works of art, and as serious fishing tools.
SC rods feature beautifully figured amboyna burl wood and blued nickel silver reel seats, Snakebrand guides, stripping guides with agate inserts, handmade ferrule plugs, and grips shaped from the finest cork. Each rod comes with a pair of matched tip sections
Make the Hard Way a Little Easier
Choosing a fly rod to fish the world’s saltwater species clearly isn’t the easy way. It’s the Hard Way. But, for those of us who pursue this challenge, the rewards come from our methods as much as our results.
We designed the Tidal saltwater fly rods to make the challenges a little less, well... challenging. Accurate presentations to cruising fish and good turnover into the wind are now easier than ever. These salt specific rods load quickly, generate high line speed with a relaxed casting stroke, and have ample power to control hard fighting fish.
Like all Scott fly rods, they’re handcrafted start to finish in our Colorado workshop by skilled rod builders using the best materials available. Tidal rods come in models to cover any species or situation you’ll encounter on the flats or open waters.
Take the Tidal series fly rods on your next saltwater adventure. They’ll make the Hard Way a bit easier… and might even make your guide smile, too.

Remarkably light and responsive for effortless casts.
T&T’s proprietary StratoTherm Resin has such incredible strength and vibration dampening characteristics that it forced us to approach freshwater fly rod design in a new way. The result is the remarkably light and responsive Avantt Series. With ultra-low swing weight and lightning-fast recovery, these rods come alive in the hand.
At close range, the Avantt rods provide precise command of the fly with a delicate touch. Longer casts reveal surprising power and line speed with tight loops and excellent line control.
Technical Nymphing Rods
Contact II blank construction utilizes five different types of premium quality carbon and fiberglass fibers, bound together by our proprietary aerospace resin system. Aligning these fibers at strategic angles as we roll Contact II blanks improves accuracy, sensitivity, and strength. Components have been carefully selected to maximize performance and comfort. Improved guide spacing moves a “Low Rider” style stripping guide to the butt section of each Contact II, which decreases line sag from the angler’s hand to the first guide.
THE ULTIMATE PRESENTATION ROD.
THE ULTIMATE PRESENTATION ROD.
Ask a group of experienced anglers to name the greatest dry fly rod of all time, and the T&T Paradigm is sure to be mentioned more than once. Over twenty years later, we’ve followed the same inspiration that made the original into a legend to create a new Paradigm for the 21st century.
While the advance of technology has pushed the limits of rod weight, line speed and casting distance, the essence of stalking a rising trout and presenting the fly remains unchanged. With this in mind, we set out to capture the unique feel that made the original Paradigm fly rods such a magical instrument.
SEXTANT SALTWATER FLAGSHIP SERIES
As technology and performance continue to push the limit of possibilities, the end goal for a fly rod remains the same. We seek to cast a fly line with ease and accuracy – to deliver our best artificial imitation at the right time and in the right place to convince the fish to eat. In saltwater fly fishing, fly presentation and placement are often as critical as when casting tiny imitations to fussy selective trout. But there is also a need for power; both to face into the wind so commonly encountered and to turn the heads of the largest fish.
These combined challenges of accuracy, delicacy and power are met with the new Sextant saltwater series from T&T. The Sextant rod family was born from extensive R&D, representing an evolution in composition and construction from any fly rod previously available.
Sextant rods are constructed with a unique reinforcement strategy that enhances strength and recovery properties of high-performance unidirectional fibers. This improves the coefficient of energy of the completed rod sections, resulting in rods that load quickly and generate wind-cutting line speed and casting distance with less effort.
The entire Sextant rod family shares a smooth loading, quick recovery action that allows for precise accuracy at short distances without sacrificing the power and backbone necessary for punching flies at longer distances through the wind.
The Zone series pushes the envelope in both performance and price
The Zone series pushes the envelope in both performance and price, bringing the latest R&D from Thomas & Thomas to more fly anglers than ever before. Sharing the advanced StratoTherm resin developed for the acclaimed Avantt and Exocett series, Zone rods are rolled and built by hand alongside those flagship models right here in our Massachusetts, USA facility.
Zone rods bring the legendary T&T feel and performance to a versatile lineup of 11 new models ranging from 3wt to 10wt.
Cobalt rods are built on a hyper-fast blank crafted to deliver blistering line speed and wind conquering loops
Gun Control. No, not that kind. But "hand cannon" might be a term that comes to mind when you're on the flats with a Cobalt rod. Think of your fly as a projectile, your line a powder charge, that Permit sliding by at 70 feet as a silhouette. Aim and fire.
Cobalt rods are built on a hyper-fast blank crafted to deliver blistering line speed and wind conquering loops, with enough flex in the tip and mid-section to allow you feel the action lead but plenty of muscle down deep to pick up that 70 feet of line for a quick re-cast.
Based on our popular SS-Salt blanks with dialed hardware and proprietary Lockdown reel seat, Cobalt is our next evolution in saltwater performance. Available in a full range of calibers.
Purpose built for technical fly fishing; for accuracy and finesse, for long leaders and small flies.
Trouble at Home? Silver Creek is an intoxicating problem. Languid currents and clear water lay bare your plans. The fish have advanced degrees in entomology, with ample time to study the menu.
And this is our home turf.
If Silver Creek is the problem, Purist is the solution: Purpose-built for technical fly fishing; for accuracy and finesse, for long leaders and small flies. From its 2 piece construction to the light and spare hardware specification, everything about purist is focused on reducing upper section weight to enhance energy delivery, recovery, feedback, and feel. When it comes to action, it's all about the balance of power. The Purist blank is very progressive, with a supple tip that loads easily and short, a mid-section that maintains tracking and stability, and a solid butt section that stores and releases energy with perfect control.
Purist was designed and tested, revised and fine-tuned and tested, and tested and tested (and tested) on some of the most exacting water on the planet. The others will seem easy.
The freshwater version of our Cobalt action.
Cheating. We'll come clean from the outset: Velocity is the freshwater version of our Cobalt action. We did this for an obvious reason: Our high-energy saltwater rods are certifiable handguns. Point and shoot, fast and furious, lifting power and laser loops. Big flies on open water, blowing like hell? Yep. Send one out to a seam in the middle of a wide freestone and throw in a reach? Nailed it. Lift a meaty streamer with a Belgian backcast and hit the other side of the river? Done. 10 inch brookies in a beaver pond on 6x? Uh... not quite. But if speed is what you need... Lighter hardware, forgotten fighting butts, foofy finishes for us trout guys, things like that. End of story.
All-around freshwater fly rods with boron.
The next generation of all-around freshwater fly rods (3wt-6wt). These rods can do anything – present tiny dry flies to wary trout on flat water, cast a heavy streamer to the far bank in the wind, launch the entire line when you need it, and make quick, accurate close-range shots. From high stick nymphing, pounding the banks from the boat, or wet wading, the new AIR 2 is a pack rod, a travel rod, a beautiful rod, and an all-around rod. It’s the new Winston. You won’t want to leave home without it. Now is the time.
THE NEW SMOOTH IN SALTWATER. SMOOTH AND POWERFUL.
The Winston Saltwater AIR - lightweight saltwater rods with Winston Boron III technology that are easy to cast. Winston smooth.
The Saltwater AIR series is very light and allows for unprecedented fast recovery, for any length of cast.
Combining our proprietary SuperSilica lightweight resin system and Boron III material with modern progressive tapers, Winston Saltwater AIR rods deliver the celebrated Winston "feel", along with balanced, fast graphite recovery rates, for incredible line speed and presentation, making them our most versatile rods in saltwater environments. What this means for anglers is faster mid-sections to dictate line control and easily manage windy conditions along with Boron III technology applied in the butt section for more lifting strength to fight and land fish quickly.
YOU'RE GOING TO NEED A BIGGER NET.
Welcome to ALPHA+. A Winston rod series designed to up your game against the Alpha fish lurking in the shadows. Carnivorous trout, thrashing bass, toothy pike and musky, jungle species like peacock bass, golden dorado and arapaima, and huge saltwater species like giant trevally and Tarpon. Pure and simple, these rods are for any fish that require extra-large fishing tools no matter the water type.
With wicked fast action, ALPHA+ rods have been designed to cast aggressive rigs - including big files, heavy lines, shooting heads and sinking tips. These rods will cast these big rigs further with minimal false casts and effort.
Built like none other. These game changing rods use unique features not found in any other series, like a designated grain window for each model to help anglers sort through the wide offering of over-weighted lines available on the market today.
This helps eliminate the confusion associated with lines over-weighted by 1 or 2 line weights. Simply match a lines grain window to the appropriate Alpha model to suit your needs and fishing style.
ALPHA+ rods are extra reinforced in the ferrule for ultimate lifting power, to turn fish away from heavy cover, and support all-day casting with big flies and fly lines.

WT Tom Morgan Favoritetop
A great fly rod is always a great fly rod.
Tom Morgan was the owner and rod designer at Winston from 1973 to 1991 and his legacy at Winston and for the entire fly rod industry cannot be overstated. We continue to believe in Tom's principle that "a great fly rod is always a great fly rod", so as we celebrate Winston's 90th Anniversary, we find it only fitting to reintroduce the Tom Morgan Favorite.
First offered in 1989 as a limited edition 60th Anniversary model, the Tom Morgan Favorite Rod has proved to be so popular it has remained a Winston customer favorite for the last 30 years.
Tom grew up fishing the spring creeks of Montana for wary brown trout where the slightest mistake spooks the fish. He designed the "Tom Morgan Favorite" as a specialized 2-piece, extra light, 8' 4-weight, made from moderate modulus graphite for those close to mid-range distances where delicacy, finesse, and accuracy are essential.
