Adams Superflytop
Mayfly
How do you take one of the most well-known dry flies and make it that much more versatile?
Extend the body, give it some stacked hackle and splay the wings just enough that it could imitate spinners. The Adams Superfly maintains all the best properties of the original Adams, but trout can't resist enhanced features.
The fly works particularly well imitating callibaetis mayflies on stillwaters.
AK's March Browntop
March Brown Pattern
The first pattern I ever tied! I lived in Michigan at the time and was told there was a March Brown hatch happening. I went to a gas station and bought a half dozen March Browns. They were BROWN with fuzzy dubbed bodies. When I got to the stream I discovered the naturals' bodies were TAN and shniy! The wings on the naturals were Medium Gray. So I began tying my March Browns with a Dyed tan wild turkey biot with dun wings. It's my go to early season fly.
