While fishing the Dean River in BC, we noticed many Deer Flies (commonly called Horse Flies) buzzing around, harassing us. We also noticed that steelhead smashed them with a revengeful attitude if given the chance. We had tied up some samples and sent them to another coworker the following year. The result.... she ended up getting her largest steelhead of the trip on the pattern. That sealed it and this the RIO Horse Play was born.
