We are sad
to see Mike Doutaz, our rod building instructor retire. He has moved
closer to his favorite fish. We are hoping to host a building course in
the fall. Check back for updates.
Rod
Building
Designed for those who wish to alleviate the expensive costs of a
premium rod or for those who take pride in doing things themselves.
During the course, the student will be expertly guided through the craft
of rod building by building his/her own custom rod. Upon
course completion, the student should be able to properly construct any
rod. Taught by TBA, this course
covers all aspects of rod building such as blank selection, reelseat
placement, cork handle construction, guide wrapping and placement as
well as finishing.
Scheduling
and
Requirements
This course is generally taught
at the shop on an at need basis, however we do have a couple dates that
are set for this winter and spring. Students are expected to provide
their own blank, reel seat, guides, cork and epoxy. The tools and
miscellaneous adhesives will be provided by the instructor.
Cost: $85.00 plus GST.
